Client Challenge
For more than 30 years, Hyceon has supported the evolution of the Mater Private Hospital’s densely configured city-centre campus, delivering more than 30 significant extensions, refurbishments and conversions while maintaining continuity across a busy acute hospital environment.rnrnA recently completed operating theatre demonstrates the complexity of working within this constrained, mission-critical setting. The new facility was constructed on a small internal courtyard site, surrounded on all four sides by operational hospital buildings, including theatres where live surgery continued throughout the works.
Hyceon’s Solution
Hyceon worked closely with the hospital’s operations team to develop a detailed seven-phase delivery strategy, incorporating temporary relocations, new staff and equipment facilities and carefully sequenced construction. Every intervention was planned around the hospital’s operational requirements, with patient safety, infection control and continuity of critical services maintained throughout. The project demonstrates how precise planning, technical coordination and close stakeholder collaboration can enable complex healthcare infrastructure to be delivered within a live acute hospital campus.
